IUCN’s messages for the 10 ocean action panels at UNOC3

The high-level 2025 United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14 (the third UN Ocean Conference) is a pivotal moment for restoring ocean health. Co-hosted by France and Costa Rica and held in Nice, France, from 9 – 13 June 2025, the conference will be centred around the theme of “Accelerating action and mobilizing all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean”.

The conference outcome will be the Nice Ocean Action Plan comprised of a political declaration signed by Member States coupled with the voluntary commitments. The main conference is centered around ten Ocean Action Panels. The following are IUCN’s key messages for the action panels to ensure the conference leads to bold, inclusive and transformative ocean action.
